a new camera bag, again

At this point in time I have narrowed down of what needs to be inside my camera bag when I'm travelling:
- Nikon D600 + 24-85mm lens
- Nikkor 16mm fisheye (optional)
- Extra SD cards and battery
- iPad Mini
- Moleskine + pen
- travel guidebook
- phone juice pack
- water bottle
- earphone
- USB cable
- passport + tickets

All this time I've been carrying two bags, a National Geographic backpack (because I used to bring my Macbook on trips) and a sling bag to use when I'm already at my destination.

I was never into camera backpacks and have always gravitated towards the sling bag probably because it's faster to reach for the camera when I need to shoot some action. Or maybe because I used to play guitar a lot.So after doing plenty of research I've decided to buy myself (maybe after the New Year) a Think Tank Citywalker 10.

Hopefully I can stay with this one bag at least for, oh I don't know, a few good years?

escaping winter - september edition

OK, since my Picasa album is full and Flickr hasn't fully integrated itself with Blogspot yet, I'm only putting up some of the Turkey trip pics.

This was also the first time I had the Nikon D600 with me on a trip and it was fab!

I almost had a heart attack trying to convert the RAW files to TIFF though.

I had the Nikon Capture NX2 installed on my PC (yes I'm on a PC) and when I batch convert them, the TIFFs are 72dpi. I checked the RAW files in NX2 and the info says 72dpi as well.

I almost killed myself. Did I just shoot the whole trip in 72dpi? Fudge me!!!

So I checked back on the camera and they are the correct resolution so I tried updating to the latest Nikon NX2.something aaaand happy days.

Sneaky Nikon, very sneaky.
